There aren't really pictures. It was way too disorganized for that.
Baby Jack was born exactly two weeks late. Wednesday (11 days late) I had an extremely disappointing doctor's appointment where she told me in the last week I had made absolutely no progress from the week before. I decided that it was time to schedule an induction. Because Chance is in school, we decided to set it for 6 AM on Saturday. I had some acupuncture done at Oakland Acupuncture Project Thursday night and called my in-laws, who decided to come up and help out with Shamus (Chance was out of town with his dad). Friday I had little light contractions every nine minutes for most of the day. Had lunch with my sister and father in law at Rudy's, grocery shopped, did a whole lot of homework. James was supposed to drive his sister to the airport Friday night but just before he left the contractions suddenly jumped to every six minutes (you're supposed to go in at 7). J's dad drove her and we drove over to the hospital. We checked in at ten and at quarter-to-three, little Jack appeared. I screamed and took the lord's name in vain many times in that six hours, I am sure. Other than that it's pretty hazy.
He ended up being enormous, despite being told several times he would be my smallest baby. (Chance was 9.13, Shamus was 9.7 so of course small is relative). He's a great baby so far. He's had a few tiny problems, all of which seem to be explained by the fact that he only spent fifteen minutes getting squeezed in the birth canal (Most babies spend an hour or so and get all the extra fluid out in the process). He started nursing a few minutes after he was born like a little champ, so I haven't been as stressed as I was when Shamus was a newborn. Lots of relaxing around the house, which is nice. The kids are handling all the changes pretty well so far.
Found these pictures on my computer of my last couple days of pregnancy.. Homework, stress eating, and cranky faces are an accurate depiction.
42 weeks. On my way to that magical acupuncture appointment.
